Criminal Record Check for Canadians

I have just been accepted to MUA and I need to get a criminal record check done OUTSIDE of Canada (Staten Island). Does anyone know how to do this and how long does it take? Can I get on the island of Nevis without the official papers in hand? Any Canadians online that can advise me please?
